So What, Acrylgemälde mit Farbverlauf in Orange, Gelb, Weiß und Blau von Myriam Probst, 60 × 80 cm
1/6

Original | Format: 60 × 80 cm | Technique: Acrylic | Framed: yes

In the morning, I thought: Let's do something simple. Just gradient, just color. Orange, yellow, white, blue – like a sunrise over the sea.

By afternoon, I knew: It's not simple. Every transition has to be perfect. One mistake and it's ruined. Hours of precision.

In the evening, it was finished. Perfect. Clean. Beautiful.

And boring.

I can do perfection. I just don't feel like it.

So I took black and dragged it straight across the middle. Through the horizon. Through all the control. Splashes upwards, drops downwards, brushstrokes through the center.

So what.

This is not a painting for people looking for "beauty." This is a painting for people who know that the interesting part only begins when you break the rules.

Frequently asked questions about this work

──────────────────────

What does the name "So What" mean?

The attitude behind the painting. The gradient was finished, perfect, controlled. And then? So what. Perfection is boring. The black intervention was a conscious decision against playing it safe.

Why black on the sunrise?

Because contrast creates tension. The black sits exactly on the horizon – where warmth and cold meet. It breaks the harmony and only then makes the painting interesting.

Is this planned or accidental?

Both. The gradient was planned and painted precisely. The black intervention was a spontaneous decision – but a conscious one. It's the break that makes the painting what it is.

What colors were used?

Orange, yellow, white, and deep blue for the gradient. Black for the intervention. The color combination is reminiscent of a sunrise over the sea.

Does the painting suit bright or dark rooms?

Both. The warm tones bring energy to bright rooms, the black adds depth. In darker rooms, the orange and yellow tones shine particularly brightly.

Who is this painting for?

For people with attitude. Who don't want the obvious. Who understand that perfection can be boring – and that the courage to break is what's interesting.

Der Plan

Mach was Einfaches

So what.
