What is Pranayama and why this image?

Pranayama is the yogic art of breath control. One exercise within it describes consciously guiding the breath through all chakras, from bottom to top, from front to back, until it returns to the starting point. A cycle. Infinite.

When I did this exercise for the first time, this form immediately appeared in my mind. I have drawn it countless times since, always too small, always in pencil. But it wanted to be bigger. Purer. More reduced.

Why charcoal on thin paper?

Charcoal forgives nothing. No eraser, no second chance. Every stroke remains. The paper is intentionally thin, almost fragile. Like a breath. Here, and then gone.

The texture is uneven, grainy, alive. This is not a mistake; it is part of the work. Perfection was never the goal. Presence was the goal.
